This past November marked a couple of records for BMW in terms of sales. The worldwide sales of BMW Group vehicles went up over the last month but that’s not as important as how they did it and what models are now showing the biggest increase in volume sales. The most important thing to remember is that November 2018 marked the best ever single month for BMW Group electrified sales, paving the way for future models and an increase in R&D investment for such vehicles.

In sheer numbers, the overall BMW Group sales went up by 0.8 percent last month, adding up to a total of 222,462 vehicles. On a year-to-date basis the numbers add up to an increase of 1.3 percent worldwide while the grand total of vehicles delivered adds up to 2,258,159. If we’re discussing BMW brand vehicles, the numbers look even better, with a 1.6 percent increase over the month of November and a total of 189,281 units worldwide.



However, the big news is that sales of electrified cars are going up at an accelerated pace. Every fifth BMW 5 Series delivered in November was a plug-in hybrid model, sales of electrified BMW cars reaching 14,676 units wordwide last month, an increase of 26.1 percent compared to the same month of last year. For the year BMW delivered 125,365 electrified units, an increase of 39.6 percent and on schedule for its 140,000 target.

The i3 is doing great after five years since it was launched, posting a 17 percent increase last month (3,468 units). The MINI Countryman, 2 Series Active Tourer and PHEV X1 (available only in China) were not doing that bad either, accounting for about 10 percent of each model’s sales figures. However, the absolute sales champion was the X3 with 22,547 units delivered last month, an increase of 96.9 percent over last year.
